A swastika was found painted on the concrete walls of a Jewish temple following Yom Kippur services on Saturday in Spokane, Wash., The Spokesman-Review newspaper reported.

Someone attending the service discovered the swastika in the temple’s enclosed courtyard, according to the paper.

Rabbi Tamar Malino told the SpokaneFAVS news site that the temple was working with the Spokane Police Department in its investigation of the incident.

“The mark is being removed immediately, and both the Temple Beth Shalom, and Congregation Emanu-el communities continue to show strength and calm in the face of this hateful act,” Malino told the SpokaneFAVS.
