Democratic super PAC House Majority PAC is attacking Mark Sanford for his 2009 affair in a new ad a week before the special election for South Carolina’s First Congressional District House seat.

“I used to be for Mark Sanford,” Republican voter Jennifer Stark says in the ad. “But not any more.”

“I really was disappointed when I heard the extent to which he’d betrayed our trust,” Stark says, referring to charges that he used taxpayer money to carry out his affair in Argentina. “I was mortified, angry, embarrassed, betrayed.”

“I’m a Republican, but Mark Sanford just doesn’t share our values,” she concludes.

Throughout the ad, text shows newspaper excerpts about Sanford’s affair, including recent headlines after he allegedly trespassed at his ex-wife’s home. Sanford ultimately paid $74,000 in fines to resolve ethics charges.

The ad comes a day after Democratic nominee Elizabeth Colbert Bush made reference to Sanford’s affair a debate Monday night. House Majority PAC has put six figures into airing the ad, according to the Washington Post.
