A conservative super PAC put forth a major ad campaign in support of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) that stresses the top Senate Republican’s opposition to Obamacare and ties him to Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).
The ad campaign, by the Kentucky Opportunity Coalition, argues that McConnell and Paul are “working together to stop Obamacare.”
“For Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul, fighting Obamacare isn’t about politics,” a voiceover in the ad said. “It’s a fight for the Kentucky families who are losing their coverage. McConnell and Paul are working together to stop Obamacare, to stop the Washington liberals who are forcing families out of plans that include the doctors they trust. McConnell and Paul say: Start over, repeal this bad law and cut costs, not choice.”
The Kentucky Opportunity Coalition is spending $382,000 on the ad over the next week, according to Politico, which first reported the ad buy.
Connecting McConnell with Paul is probably not a coincidence. A new PPP poll found that Paul has a higher approval rating among Kentucky Republicans than McConnell.
