A radio host in Atlanta told BuzzFeed on Thursday that he’d been suspended after recycling an old interview with Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.

WYAY radio host Steve McCoy broadcast an interview with Trump on Tuesday that he described as having taken place “yesterday,” according to BuzzFeed. He told listeners the real estate mogul’s campaign had forced him to agree not to ask Trump about policy positions because “they weren’t set in stone.”

But soon after his claims came out, a lawyer for Trump told BuzzFeed the interview with McCoy had actually taken place a year ago and accused the host of lying about it.

On Thursday, according to BuzzFeed, McCoy copped to having recycled the old interview.

“I had interview scheduled but it didn’t come through so I used an old interview. I got suspended and I’m taking my punishment,” McCoy said, according to the website.

However, he also disputed to BuzzFeed that he’d characterized the Trump interview as having been new.

It wasn’t immediately clear how long McCoy would be suspended.

So a fresh new Trump interview would have been substantively different how, exactly?

  3. It got huge ratings. So it must be the truth.

  4. Well said. But in all fairness, it really is inexcusable to recycle some of Trump’s tired old shit when he’s constantly dumping heaps of tired new shit to report.

I don’t understand why he didn’t just say yesterday’s interview fell through and then say he was airing an interview from last year? Why lie when the truth serves the purpose?
