Steve King is pretty miffed that John Boehner called him an “asshole” last summer, but the Iowa Republican doesn’t expect an apology.

“We have not had that discussion. I don’t expect we will,” King told Roll Call.

Boehner reportedly dropped the insult during a conversation with Rep. Joaquín Castro (D-TX) shortly after King argued that for every young undocumented immigrant who grows up to be a valedictorian “there’s another 100 out there” who are drug mules.

Castro recalled the conversation in an article published last month.

“Another Texas Democrat and I were standing a few feet away, and as the speaker passed us we thanked him for denouncing King’s offensive comments,” Castro wrote. “He slowed his stride and then paused to turn toward us. “What an asshole,” he said. My thoughts exactly, Mr. Speaker.”

King told Roll Call that Boehner didn’t deny the account, and said the speaker’s “decorum” has no place on the House floor.

“I expect the press and the public will hold folks accountable who use that indelicate language,” King said.
