The Statue of Liberty is scheduled to reopen by July 4 after 9 months of repair work due to Hurricane Sandy.
“It’s good news, it’s a little overdue, but at least it’s there and now we’ll watch like a hawk to make sure that this promise is kept,” Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) told NBC New York.
Correction: The Statue is set to open by July 4, not on July 4. We regret the error.
