An officer at a South Carolina high school was seen flipping a student’s desk over backwards and dragging her across the floor for reportedly refusing to leave a classroom in shocking videos purportedly captured on Monday by other students.

Officials at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, S.C. said they were investigating the incident after the videos emerged. The confrontation between the female student and the school’s resource officer began after the student refused to leave class, television station WIS reported.

In videos posted online, the officer could be seen struggling with a female student seated in a desk before flipping the seat over backwards and dragging her along the ground while instructing her to “put your hands behind your back.”

“The student was told she was under arrest for disturbing school and given instructions when she again refused,” Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott told the station. “The video then shows the student resisting and being arrested.”

Officials had not released any further details about the incident.
