U.S. Airman Spencer Stone, one of the men who recently helped take down a gunman on a train in France, was stabbed Wednesday night in Sacramento, California, according to NBC News.

Stone was one of the Americans who charged at a gunman who had open fired on a passenger train in August.

The Air Force reportedly said, according to the Air Force Times, that he had been stabbed four times in the chest.

Stone was assaulted during a fight that broke out in Sacramento, police reportedly told the Sacramento ABC affiliate.

An investigation is underway and police have not named the suspect, according to the Air Force Times.

“He is alive and in stable condition at this time,” the Air Force said in a statement, according to NBC. “We do not have any information as to the events preceding the incident.”
