Billionaire magnate Sheldon Adelson said Thursday night he would support Republican Donald Trump as the party’s nominee.
“Yes, I’m a Republican, he’s a Republican,” said in an interview with the New York Times. “He’s our nominee. Whoever the nominee would turn out to be, any one of the 17 – he was one of the 17. He won fair and square.”
While Adelson remained neutral in the 2016 race, Trump went after him on Twitter, accusing the conservative donor, who gave at least $155 million to GOP candidates and causes in 2012, of trying to make Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) “his perfect little puppet.”
At the New York City event Thursday evening, hosted by the Jewish organization World Values Network, he also told a BBC reporter he thought Trump “will be good for Israel.”
