The Senate is poised to vote Wednesday afternoon on two pro-gun amendments to the water resources bill, both filed by Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK).

One amendment would require federal agencies to report all owned, purchased and lost guns and ammunition starting in fiscal year 2013.

Another would allow people to carry guns on sites like lakes and camp sites — water resource development projects which are currently gun-free zones and are administered by the Secretary of the Army.

Coburn’s office compared the latter amendment to an amendment he offered in 2009 allowing people to carry guns in national parks. That measure passed 67-29 and was signed into law by President Obama.

Both amendments are set at 60-vote thresholds. Democratic leaders hope to defeat them.
