There’s a possibility that convicted Virginia ex-Gov. Bob McDonnell may not be going to prison this month after all.
The Supreme Court ruled Monday that prosecutors have until 4 p.m. ET Wednesday to file a response to McDonnell’s request to remain free pending his appeal, allowing him to stay out from behind bars temporarily, Richmond TV station WWBT reported. A federal appeals court last week rejected the former governor’s request to remain free pending that appeal.
This post has been updated to reflect that McDonnell remains free until prosecutors file a response to his request to stay out from behind bars pending appeal.
