Fairfax City, Virginia Mayor Richard “Scott” Silverthorne was arrested Thursday for allegedly distributing methamphetamine in exchange for sex, local police said.

After receiving a tip in late July, an undercover detective created a profile on a website for arranging sexual encounters between men, which Silverthorne, 50, was allegedly using to distribute meth.

Undercover officers set up a meeting with the suspect at a Crowne Plaza Hotel in Tysons Corner, Virginia. After providing the drugs to officers, Silverthorne was arrested and booked on felony drug charges.

Two other men, Juan Jose Fernandez, 34, and Caustin Lee McLaughlin, 21, both of Maryland, were arrested as part of the sting operation for allegedly providing the drugs to Silverthorne.
