Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown (R) announced Wednesday that he is running for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire — for real.

He announced definitively Wednesday morning on WGIR’s “NH Today With Jack Heath” that he would run against Democratic incumbent Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. Manchester TV station WMUR also confirmed Brown’s plans.

Brown had set up an exploratory committee last month to prepare for a challenge to Shaheen, and he was spotted Tuesday on Capitol Hill attending Senate Republicans’ weekly lunch.

Polls have shown Shaheen widening her lead over Brown in the past month.
