Three polls out Thursday shows the GOP presidential race tightening — an NBC/Marist poll conducted on the day before and after Monday night’s debate in the state shows former House Speaker Newt Gingrich moving up on frontrunner former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. “On Monday, Romney had a 15 percentage point advantage, 37% to 22%, over Gingrich,” Marist pollsters found. “Tuesday’s results, however, show a different picture. Romney has just a 5 percentage point lead, 31% to 26% for Gingrich.”

A new POLITICO poll also shows Gingrich within seven points, Romney with a 37 – 30 lead in a survey conducted totally after the debate. Both men are viewed very favorably by Republican voters in the state, and Romney only leads by one point among voters who are “definitely” committed to one candidates, but builds a lead on more support from Republicans leading toward him.

Finally, InsiderAdvantage snap poll conducted Wednesday showed Gingrich actually leading by three over Romney, 32 – 29, so the numbers are definitely tightening as the candidates cross the finish line. Our TPM Poll Average now shows Romney’s lead a little over one percent after starting the week with a more than ten point advantage.
