Speaking in Miamisburg, Ohio, Monday, Rick Santorum continued to slam Mitt Romney for his support of a federal individual mandate, as a 2009 op-ed and Meet the Press appearance demonstrate.

Santorum painted it as an issue of “trust,” recalling that Romney had said he is against a federal individual mandate repeatedly on the trail, but that in fact we find evidence to the contrary. Santorum said that trust is paramount in a campaign, and asked how Americans could trust Romney to be who he says he is on the issues.

Santorum also pointed out that the Republican Party, in nominating Romney, would be choosing a candidate who completely forfeits the biggest issue in this campaign.
