Rick Santorum told Jay Leno Tuesday night that he needed some time before endorsing Mitt Romney after a tough campaign. Leno wondered why Santorum unveiled his endorsement via an email sent late at night.
“I met with Gov. Romney last Friday, we’d been trying to work on a meeting,” Santorum said. “I think we just needed some time. It was a rough and tumble campaign. I can’t say that it would have been an easy thing to turn around the next day and say, ‘Oh, you know, let’s just go forward.’ It was tough.”
