Santorum Fact-Checks Tea Party Crowd On Foreign Aid

At an event in Stuart, FL earlier today, Rick Santorum downplayed the amount of money the United States commits to foreign aid, an oft-criticized area among conservatives.

After Santorum challenged the audience of Tea Party members to identify the percentage of the federal budget comprised of foreign aid, a crowd member guessed five percent. The former Pennsylvania senator accurately noted that foreign aid spending consumes less than half-percent of the overall budget.
