Sandra Fluke is running for office in California, which apparently makes her a ripe target for Republicans in Maine.

A since-deleted post on the Maine GOP’s Facebook page on Wednesday showed that Fluke remains a favorite target for a party that continues to have an awkward relationship with contraception.

The post included a variation of the same joke Republicans have used repeatedly against Fluke, who drew the ire of conservatives in 2012 when she tried to testify before a House committee in support of the Affordable Care Act’s contraception mandate.

“Can’t afford birth control,” the post read. “Paid $1740 filing fee to run for Congress.”

Mike Tipping over at the Bangor Daily News has a screenshot of the post.

After flirting with the idea of running for retiring Rep. Henry Waxman’s (D-CA) seat, Fluke decided instead to run for state Senate in California.
