Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was projected to win the Wisconsin Democratic primary contest on Tuesday night, according to Fox News and NBC News.
There were 96 delegates for the Democrats to win in Wisconsin — 86 were pledged and 10 were superdelegates.
Sanders had said at a campaign rally earlier this week that a victory in Wisconsin would give him the momentum to win against rival Hillary Clinton in the New York primary later this month.
“So don’t tell her this but we win here, we win in New York State, we are on our way to the White House,” Sanders said.
The Clinton campaign acknowledged in a fundraising email Monday that the Wisconsin primary would be a “tough fight,” but that the “nomination isn’t locked up yet.”
The latest poll from Wisconsin last week showed Sanders widening his lead to 49 percent support while Clinton had 45 percent. TPM’s national PollTracker Average showed Clinton with 46.7 percent support and Sanders with 41.1 percent support.
Like @chammy and I were saying’…
So much for keeping us in suspense!
Oh, well, Dewey defeated Truman.
Another great win for the Sanders campaign! Congrats Bernie
No one will ever accuse me of being a big Bernie fan but geez, TPM. The guy just won a primary. The least you can do is post a picture of him where he doesn’t look like he is 1) pissed off, and 2) got a really bad haircut, which 3) might be why he’s so pissed off.
