CNN host Jake Tapper assured Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on Sunday that he never considered him a “fringe candidate.”
Sanders, who won the New Hampshire primary, was touting his popularity with Latino voters on “State of the Union.”
“The truth is that for a campaign that started off as a fringe campaign at 3 percent in the polls, we have enormous momentum,” Sanders said, putting air quotes around “fringe campaign.”
“For the record, sir, as you know, we never considered you a fringe candidate,” Tapper said and Sanders laughed.
