Paul Ryan dug in further on his attack against the Obama administration over the closing of a General Motors plant in his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin — which actually occurred in 2008, when George W. Bush was president.

“General Motors isn’t alive in my hometown,” Ryan told George Stephanopoulos of ABC News — responding to the frequent refrain from Vice President Joe Biden that under President Obama, “Osama bin Laden is dead, and General Motors is alive.”

“The president came to Janesville, before the plant shut down, and said that he’d lead an effort to retool the plant,” said Ryan. “After the plant was shut down, he said he would lead an effort to retool the plant to get people back to work. They’re still not back to work. I’d really ask the 23 million people, George, who are struggling to find work in America today, if we’re better off than we were four years ago?”
