Returning to Congress after his vice presidential bid alongside Mitt Romney, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) is backing Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) for the job of Republican Conference Chairman, according to a letter to his House colleagues obtained by CNN Tuesday. Opposing Price is the current vice-chair of the Republican conference Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who served as a prominent surrogate to the Romney campaign and is currently the only woman in Republican House leadership.

“He was instrumental in drafting our House Republican budget. His vocal leadership on issues like health care, tax reform, and fiscal matters has been vital to our messaging and policy efforts,” Ryan writes in the letter. “No one will work harder than Congressman Price at building a strong and compelling communications and policy strategy that reflects the will of our membership and the needs of the nation.”
