Paul Ryan took on health care reform Tuesday, in an ad he launched for his House seat in Wisconsin.
As with his previous ads, Ryan does not specifically say which office he is running for, with him actually running simultaneously for his House seat and as the Republican nominee for Vice President. Instead, his congressional campaign logo only appears briefly on screen. As such, it could simultaneously boost Ryan in his House seat, while trying to reach out to voters in Ryan’s home state — where the Romney-Ryan ticket has been seriously trailing President Obama in the polls.
“We should get insurance and government bureaucrats out of the way, and force health care providers to compete for our business,” Ryan says. “That way, we can cut costs, improve quality, and make health care accessible for everyone. Insurance companies and providers should show us their prices and practices, so you can make decisions based on cost and quality. You should be in charge of your health — not government or insurance bureaucrats.”
