The Twitter account for the Russian embassy in the United Kingdom broke out the emojis and duckling memes to jab at the Obama administration for its announcement of new sanctions against individuals and entities associated with Russian intelligence for election-related hacking.

“Cold War deja vu,” the embassy’s account posted alongside a picture of a duckling, playing on the fact that the Obama administration is now in a lame duck session between the election of its successor and inauguration day.

The @RussianEmbassy account has taken pointed jabs at the United States in recent weeks with posts featuring similar memes and the slogan “it is geopolitics, stupid!”
