Trump says that if he’s elected president, he’ll know within six months whether he can achieve an elusive peace accord between Israelis and Palestinians, one of the world’s most vexing challenges. But the Republican presidential candidate says he has doubts about each side’s commitment to the peace process. (AP Photo/Andrew Harnik) MORE LESS

Both Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh have been cheerleaders for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, declining to condemn outright his proposed ban on Muslims immigrating to the United States.

But both on Monday bashed the real estate mogul for attacking Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and calling the senator a “maniac” who cannot work with his Senate colleagues.

Limbaugh described Trump’s negative comments about Trump as a “huge mistake” during his radio show on Monday.

“A genuine conservative, even in the Republican field, would not go after Cruz this way. So that just raised a red flag for me, made me somewhat curious,” Limbaugh said.

In a Monday Facebook post, Levin said that Trump’s description of Cruz as a “maniac” suggests that the real estate mogul believes that “all conservatives who support Cruz against McConnell” are maniacs.

“Defending the GOP ruling class and lurching left are dumb tactics,” Levin wrote of Trump’s comments.

And on his radio show on Monday, Levin told Trump, “It’s Mitch McConnell is the maniac, it’s McCain who is the maniac, it’s Graham who is the maniac, it’s not Cruz.”

Fox News host Sean Hannity also criticized Trump on his radio show for attacking Cruz, noting that conservatives love the Texas senator.

  1. hey!!! all you ‘conservative’ whiners…

leave Donnie ALONE… he’s just warming sCruz up so he can run as his VP…

the medium dog just wants the small dog to know his place…

  2. The real question here is whether Trump is ok with losing to Cruz in Iowa. The writing is on the wall. The Evangelicals that dominate Iowa GOP politics don’t like Trump. That being said, I don’t think the Donald likes losing to anyone.

So he will go harder at Cruz. Then watch the RWNJ media really start to squeal.

  3. Its sad to see true conservatives supporting a foreign born candidate, Cruz. What has modern conservatism come to? Is this what our founding fathers would have wanted?

  4. Why are these assholes (candidates) going to be on my television set again tonight! Why are these other assholes (Levin, etc.) on the radio? Why does CNN have that stupid countdown clock on it’s screen as if the clowns were going to be launched into space or something? Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio indeed!

  5. I would have thought that promising to put Sarah Palin on his Cabinet would have absolved him of all criticism. (Maybe he really meant he would lock her in a cabinet).
