During his second day of testimony before a UK judicial inquiry into the press, News Corp. chief Rupert Murdoch apologized for the phone hacking that has plagued his media company.

“I also have to say that I failed,” Murdoch said, according to The New York Times. “I am very sorry about it.”

Murdoch also said he didn’t pay close enough attention to the now-defunct News of the World newspaper, which was at the center of the hacking scandal.
