The roommate of the 20-year-old Saudi Arabia man who was questioned about the Boston Marathon bombings doubts that his friend, who he described as a devout Muslim, was involved in the deadly explosions that erupted near the finish line of the race.

“I don’t think he could do that,’’ the roommate told the Boston Globe. The roommate, who was not explicitly identified by the Globe, said he last saw his friend on Sunday. When law enforcement officials arrived at their apartment complex in Revere, Mass. late Monday, they asked him to step out while they conducted a search. The roommate said police were still at the suburban Boston complex on Tuesday morning.

The 20-year-old Saudi man has been questioned extensively by authorities while undergoing treatment at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston for injuries sustained in the blast, but he has not been charged with any crime. He is studying English in the greater Boston area.
