On the same phone call with reporters as John Sununu, Rep. Peter King laid into Newt Gingrich’s “self-serving narcissism.”
“As republicans we cannot afford him to be our nominee,” he said. Were that to happen, he continued, “between now and November there will be a series of mistakes and the whole party would be affected by it.”
His conclusion, though, was the most dramatic point: “If [Newt is] elected President the whole country will be in danger.”
