Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette, who serves as Mitt Romney’s state-campaign chair in the state, has a colorful way of conveying Romney’s persistence. Via National Review’s Katrina Trinko come a few examples:
Talking about the Michigan primary, Schuette first compared Romney to the title character in the 2010 film The Fighter. Romney “is a fighter . . . the fighter for Michigan and the fighter for Michigan jobs,” Schuette said. “He makes Mark Wahlberg look tame.”
Schuette went on to use the word “scrappy” to describe Romney’s campaign style, saying, ““I like the example he’s setting in terms of being scrappy, pointing out the differences between him and his opponents.”
Finally, he compared Romney’s scrappiness to a Timex watch. “I think Mitt Romney’s like my Timex watch,” he said. “He takes a licking and keeps on ticking.”
