At a campaign rally in Cincinnati, Ohio, Republican nominee Mitt Romney tried to finesse the sometimes awkward argument of impugning President Obama’s economic leadship in an essential swing state led by a Republican governor. Ohio has seen a faster economic recovery than many American states, and Romney tried to thread the needle as to who should get credit for it.
“This is a great state, and you’ve got a great governor in John Kasich,” Romney told the crowd. “He’s showing the president — if he’d only listen — how to create jobs.”
The rally was attended by Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), House Speaker John Boehner, Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Ohio) and US Senate candidate Josh Mandel, but Kasich was not in attendence.
