The Romney campaign has sent out to its press list the New York Times article on Newt Gingrich’s long ties to and support of the government-sponsored mortgage enterprises, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Mr. Gingrich has faced many questions recently about the more than $1.6 million in consulting fees he got from Freddie Mac since leaving Congress in 1999.
