On the heels of Jeb Bush’s recent shift on immigration policy, an unnamed Romney adviser expressed anger at the former Florida governor and 2016 contender in a story published online Monday.

“Where the hell was this Jeb Bush during the campaign?” the Romney adviser told the Miami Herald. ““He spent all this time criticizing Romney and it turns out he has basically the same position. So he wants people to go back to their country and apply for citizenship? Well, that’s self deportation. We got creamed for talking about that. And now Jeb is saying the same thing.”

Making the television rounds Tuesday morning to promote his new book, Bush took some shots at the Romney campaign, which he said “wasn’t the best.” Bush also rejected Romney’s assertion that President Barack Obama’s success among minority voters was a byproduct of the new health care law.

When asked by MSNBC on Tuesday about the quote in the Herald, Bush argued that neither Romney nor Obama espoused his position on immigration reform.
