Fox News chairman Roger Ailes told Adweek Magazine in an interview published Sunday that he’s had the same “friendly” relationship with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump for 30 years.
But the Fox executive also said he called the real estate mogul and asked Trump “what the hell” was wrong with him after he criticized Fox News host Megyn Kelly in August.
“I said, ‘What the hell is wrong with you?'” Ailes told Adweek. “The United States is at war with every goddamn country in the Middle East and you’re at war with Megyn Kelly and you think that looks good. It doesn’t look good.”
Trump, who disliked Kelly’s questions in the first Republican presidential debate, said she looked like she had blood “coming out of her wherever” and then continued to criticize the Fox News anchor during numerous appearances on morning talk shows.
It was reported at the time that Ailes called Trump and told him to make nice with the network or “go to war.” The hatchet was only temporarily buried, though: Trump later tweeted more criticisms of Kelly, prompting Ailes to publicly call for Trump to apologize.
Despite all that, Ailes told Adweek that “surprisingly enough” his relationship with Trump is “friendly.”
So, what was his answer, Roger?
Thankfully, Roger had received that same question from rational people every day for so long his delivery to Trump was perfect.
The real question is why does Ailes feel a need to bring this up now? I thought we’ve already been over this same ground a few times already. Is there a purpose in bringing this up and then once again saying everything is actually copacetic between them? Sounds more like a way to change the subject to me…Faux is especially good at that, and Ailes is usually behind the directorial bait and switch that the rest of the media loves to soak up…for whatever no-good reason.
Roger, you primed the pump and now are bitching about the water?
As these two do the “69” — Sounds like any other NSA relationship —
