One of the lawmakers Rep. Vance McAllister (R-LA) defeated to win his congressional seat is demanding on the congressman to step down in light of new video footage showing McAllister kissing a staffer (who is not his wife).

“This is another embarrassment to Louisiana,” state Rep. Robert Johnson (D) said according to the Times-Picayune on Tuesday. “I think he needs to resign, and I don’t think he can be effective.”

Johnson (pictured), who ran against McAllister in November, wouldn’t say he would run again but he admitted that he’s “certainly very interested.” Johnson came in fifth in the open race for the seat.

Since the tape surfaced McAllister has said he did not plan to resign his seat “unless there is an outcry for me not to serve.”

State Sen. Neil Riser (R), who McAllister defeated in the November runoff for the congressional seat has refused to say whether he is considering challenging the congressman again.

“Right now we just need to be mindful and sensitive to the families that are involved,” Riser told TPM in a brief interview.
