Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, along with a long list of other bipartisan national security officials, endorsed former Sen. Chuck Hagel as President Obama’s to lead the Defense Department on Thursday, ABC News‘ John Karl reports:
The list also includes several top national security officials for Republican presidents: Brent Scrowcroft (Bush 41), Mel Laird (Nixon), George Schultz (Reagan), Colin Powell (Reagan, Bush 41 and Bush 43), Robert McFarlane (Reagan).
