Former Pennsylvania senator and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum announced over the weekend that he will serve as CEO of a movie company that will specialize in faith-based productions.

Santorum first announced Saturday on Fox News Channel that he will lead EchoLight Studios. A press released billed EchoLight as “the first movie company to produce, finance, market and distribute faith-based, family films across all releasing platforms.”

“This is the right place and right time, and I’ve jumped in with both feet,” Santorum said in a press release. “I often say that culture is upstream from politics, and I know entertainment  also can be strength and light for people who want to be uplifted and reinforced in their values.”

EchoLight’s first production is scheduled to be released in the fall.
