Rezwan Ferdaus, arrested in September for allegedly plotting a far-fetched scheme to blow up the U.S. Capitol building using remote control airplanes, has reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.
The Justice Department announced that Ferdaus, 26, will plead guilty to “attempting to damage and destroy a federal building by means of an explosive and attempting to provide material support to terrorists” in exchange for a recommendation of a 17-year prison sentence. The other charges will be dropped at the time of sentencing under the plea agreement.
