Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has a new book out, but she has said in multiple interviews that it’s not a precursor to a 2016 presidential run. The Republican National Committee doesn’t believe her.

In a statement the RNC said that Warren’s new memoir is a “step closer” to her “running for higher office.”

“Elizabeth Warren can continue toying with the Democrat base claiming she ‘isn’t running,’ but we’ll see what happens when the calls get louder after liberal activists realize President Obama’s former Secretary of State is more of a blast from the past than the wave of the future.” RNC spokesman Jahan Wilcox said in a statement.

Warren has been making the rounds on television news shows to highlight her new book, A Fighting Chance. Throughout those appearances and interviews though she has stressed that the memoir isn’t meant to signal she’s planning to run for president in 2016.

“You can ask this a lot of different ways. The key is, I am not running for president,” Warren insisted in an interview with reporters.
