NBC 6 South Florida (WTVJ) and Florida-based Capitol News Service apologized to Florida Republicans on Friday for a graphic that referred to the GOP as the “Reprehensive Party of Florida,” according to the Miami Herald.

Republican Party of Florida Chairman Lenny Curry complained to NBC 6 for showing Republican political ads with the “Reprehensive” label.

The station explained that they used a news service for the Thursday segment, but ultimately failed to properly fact-check the piece before it was aired.

“We apologize to the Republican Party of Florida and to our viewers for our airing of a wrong graphic in a news story in (Thursday) night’s 6 p.m. newscast,” the statement reads. “The story came to us from a news service we use out of Tallahassee that we have relied on for years with no issues. We do, however, know it was our responsibility to catch the graphic and we regret that we did not prevent it from airing.”

Capitol News Service also issued an apology, stating that they addressed the issue.

“The person responsible for this has been fired,” news service representative Mike Vasilinda said. “We take this very seriously.”
