Police are still searching for a shooter who left at least one person injured Wednesday morning at Parliament Hill in Ottawa, according to CBC News and the Globe and Mail newsaper.
A body was visible outside Parliament Hill’s Centre Block, where the main legislative building is located, according to the Globe and Mail. It’s unclear whether that body is of a law enforcement official or of a suspect.
Separately, a gunman injured a soldier standing guard at the War Memorial in the city’s downtown area. That victim has been taken to a hospital.
It’s unclear at this point if the same gunman carried out the shootings at both the War Memorial and Parliament Hill and whether there is more than one shooter involved.
Two Canadian members of Parliament tweeted a conflicting account of what happened to the suspected gunman. Bernard Trottier and Bob Zimmer said that the gunman inside Parliament Hill’s Centre Block was shot and killed:
