Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) is expected to announce his retirement Thursday, according to news reports.

Sources told Politico and Fox WGHP in Piedmont, N.C. that Coble, who has served in Congress since 1985, will not seek re-election in 2014.

He serves the sixth district in North Carolina, a conservative district which Mitt Romney won 58 percent of the vote in 2012. Coble’s health has suffered recently and he has been in the hospital multiple times in the past year.

Reps. Jon Runyan (R-NJ) and Tim Griffin (R-AR) have also recently announced that they will not seek re-election.

Coble will hold a press conference at 1:30 p.m. ET Thursday.
