While Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was making appearances at the convention in Cleveland, he reportedly also found time to advise embattled Fox News CEO Roger Ailes before he resigned on Thursday.
Trump and Ailes counseled each other in multiple phone calls this week, CNN Money reported, citing two anonymous Trump aides.
21st Century Fox announced Ailes’ resignation two weeks after Gretchen Carlson, a former Fox News host, sued Ailes for sexual harassment and retaliation. That news sparked instant speculation that Ailes would work with Trump’s campaign in some way, now that Rupert Murdoch has taken the helm at Fox.
A Trump spokeswoman told CNN Money that the GOP nominee had no comment on Ailes’ departure.
