Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) received a cool welcome—and even some boos—during a Wednesday meeting with House Democrats, according to a Politico report.
Unnamed attendees at the meeting told the news site that the Vermont senator dodged multiple questions about if and when he planned to endorse Hillary Clinton. Both Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) and Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH) were reportedly met with applause from others in the room when they pressed Sanders for specifics on this timeline.
Sanders demurred, according to attendees, and said that elections are about political transformations rather than just winning specific races. His response was met by boos with some lawmakers, Politico reported.
In late June, Sanders acknowledged that he would not be the Democratic Party’s nominee, and pledged to do everything possible to help Clinton “make certain that Donald Trump is defeated.”
He has held out on backing the former secretary of state, with whom he disagrees on core policy issues, in the hopes of pressing a more progressive policy agenda at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in mid-July.
Who?
Leave them waiting too long, and even liberals start to chant “Nuke the gay whales!”
What will it take for Bernie to get a clue?
Bernie could get a lot of positive attention again if he would just do that one thing – endorse Hillary.
