Rep. Steve Daines (R-MT) will jump into the Montana Senate race on Wednesday, according to Politico

Daines has reportedly been building a campaign team for a while now. He is considered a top-tier candidate in the race.

In 2012 Daines planned to run against Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) but decided against it when fellow Montana Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg announced he would be challenging Tester. Daines ran for Rehrberg’s seat instead and won.

Daines will likely face Lt. Gov John Walsh (D) in the general election.
