Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-MT), who is challenging Democratic Sen. Jon Tester, has a new TV ad depicting voters criticizing the incumbent.

“Jon Tester takes Montana beef to Washington in his suitcase — but he brings Washington baloney back to Montana,” a man says, followed by various other men and women, who charge that Tester “used our tax dollars to give bonuses to Wall Street executives” and that Rehberg “voted against pay raises for Congress” — dubbing it “Washington baloney.”

Then back to the first man: “The Denny I know will serve as a check and balance to Obama’s liberal agenda.”

So does the Rehberg campaign imply that Obama would be re-elected in November — since a Rehberg victory would have him serving under the next president term?

“America is ready to elect a new President and new leadership in the Senate this November, and Montanans are going to lead the way,” Rehberg spokesman Chris Bond told TPM. “But from the health care law, to anti-gun judges, to reckless spending and debt, Americans will unfortunately be dealing with President Obama and Senator Tester’s liberal agenda, and those in Washington who continue to back it, for years to come.”

Tester campaign spokesman Aaron Murphy also released this statement: “After 12 years in Congress, Dennis Rehberg has forgotten who he works for.  He’s voted five times to increase his own pay, breaking his own promise to Montanans.  He leases not one, but two vehicles at taxpayer expense.  And he’s taken 13 luxury trips paid for by special interests.”
