Reddit banned a forum for the white nationalist “alt-right” movement on Wednesday, citing a violation of the site’s policy on “the proliferation of personal and confidential information.”
“This subreddit was banned due to a violation of our content policy, specifically, the proliferation of personal and confidential information,” reads a statement at the “r/altright” page.
The forum had thousands of users before it was banned, according to a report by the Associated Press.
A saved copy of the forum accessible via the Internet Archive has a comment in the sidebar condemning Reddit’s “Orwellian speech policy” and another warning users to “strictly abide by Reddit’s Content Policy.”
Reddit banned the forum due to “repeated violations” of that policy, spokeswoman Anna Soellner wrote in an email to TPM.
“We are very clear in our site terms of service that posting of personal information can get users banned from Reddit and we ask our communities not to post content that harasses or invites harassment,” she wrote. “We have banned r/altright due to repeated violations of the terms of our content policy.”
Here comes a tweet from Trump condemning Reddit for infringing on free speech and enforcing political correctness.
Sadly, I’m not sure if the above is snark anymore…
White supremacist, not nationalist.
Nancy Pelosi can get it right, why can’t this site?
So there is now a precedent for Twitter banning Tweeto Donnie, right?
Only, it wouldn’t really be a ban, just an alternative ban.

Still exists, and will not allow non members to down vote their posts, which gives their members an advantage in reddits algorithm. Essentially they can game the system and reach a wide audience with their posts before the community can react negatively. Becoming a member is easy, but you have to then see their nonsense on a daily basis… The centipedes as they refer to themselves remain untouched.
