After trolls drove ReaganBook, the conservative alternative to Facebook, offline, the social network site appears to be back under the moniker “Freedom Book.”
The URL for ReaganBook redirects users to Freedom Book, though the website still looks incomplete.
Janet Porter, the founder of ReaganBook and president of conservative pro-family group Faith2Action, is one of four members who appear on the new website. Membership is invitation-only.
Porter launched ReaganBook in July and described the network as “the Facebook for patriots.” She lamented that Facebook censors people with “unpopular opinions,” like anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera.
But by the end of the month the website was offline. Anybody could sign up for the network, and the website proved to be prime troll territory.
Despite the site’s short-lived launch, Porter said that the trolls would not keep the site offline permanently.
“I think there are some people that are threatened by freedom of speech,” she said in August. “People are used to the silencing of all dissent. That’s not what this country is founded on.”

“FreedomBook”? What’s wrong with “FreedomGun”? Was that taken?
It’s one of those hollowed-out books with a gun inside.

So now it’s a gated community, huh? So much for being open to dissent.
Since it would be the only book in a Tea Party home, it isn’t much of a hiding spot, I think.
