The letter Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer handed to President Obama during their awkward encounter on an airport tarmac on Wednesday was upbeat and optimistic despite the hard feelings that came from the meeting.
“Welcome to Arizona!” the governor wrote. “You’ve arrived in a state at the forefront of America’s recovery — and her future.”
Earlier on Thursday, the governor’s office said it wouldn’t release a copy of the letter because Brewer had given the president the only copy she had.
But later, spokesman Matt Benson said that was a mistake. A copy had been made on Thursday.
