A new poll from the conservative-leaning Rasmussen Reports shows a tightening in the Virginia governor’s race but Democrat Terry McAuliffe still leads Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R).

The new poll, released Wednesday, shows McAuliffe with 43 percent support of likely voters while Cuccinelli has 36 percent support. Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis has 12 percent support, the poll also found.

The findings are a somewhat favorable shift for Cuccinelli. A previous Rasmussen poll showed McAuliffe leading Cuccinelli by 17 percentage points. That poll found McAuliffe with 50 percent support among likely Virginia voters and Cuccinelli with 33 percent. Sarvis had 8 percent support.

Virginians go to the polls to vote for their next governor on November 5th.
