“Go boldness!” that’s the word from the Progressive Change Campaign Committee after the Congress past an extension to the payroll tax cut. The PCCC called the vote a “capitulation by Republicans” and proves the point they’ve been trying to make all along: “Make the case, stand your ground, and Republicans will be forced to cave.”
“If Democrats had been this strong on the public option, breaking up the big banks, ending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, and countless other policies, history would be different today,” PCCC’s Adam Green said in a statement.

“This capitulation by Republicans vindicates the strategy that progressives have advocated all along for Democrats. When the public is on your side, don’t capitulate before the fight. Make the case, stand your ground, and Republicans will be forced to cave. If Democrats had been this strong on the public option, breaking up the big banks, ending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, and countless other policies, history would be different today. But it’s never too late to learn the right lessons – hopefully this lesson is indeed learned and remembered down the road. Go, boldness!”
